“Poetry & Music in Conversation with Mystery”

With Guest Dana Cunningham

Weaving poetry with arrangements and compositions, pianist Dana Cunningham offers a window into what first drew her to her music, and to her calling as a composer and performer. In her emerging creative process, Dana listens for the notes and chords that open the heart to what she calls “the larger frame” of loving presence — presence toward the mystery of the divine — within herself, in others, and in the widening circles in which peace longs to be birthed.

Originally from Texas, Dana Cunningham has loved living and creating in the White Mountains of NH since 1998. Having produced six critically acclaimed recordings of original and interpretive work, Dana performs in various settings including solo concerts, conferences, and with other musicians. Currently, she devotes significant time to the Little White Church in Eaton and its service to community, both as a performer and board member for a number of years, and now as president. It is her joy to feature young as well as seasoned local musicians, and professional performers such as the Portland String Quartet. Dana studied piano at Blair School of Music while completing a degree in Communication at Vanderbilt University. Her work at the Esalen Institute at Big Sur, an advanced seminary degree in biblical studies, and a sabbatical at a Benedictine monastery have also influenced her artistic voice.
